Adjust your overtime balance
Use an Overtime entry to adjust your calculated overtime balance manually. Add increases the balance; Reduce decreases it. The entry does not count as work time.
Add an overtime adjustment
- From the overview, tap the round plus button and choose New Entry.
- Choose Entry Type → Overtime.
- Set the date on which the adjustment should apply.
- Choose Add or Reduce, then enter the Duration.
- Optionally add a note or tag so you can identify the adjustment later.
- Save the entry.
When you choose Overtime, WorkTimes initially suggests Reduce and that weekday’s regular hours. Change both values to match the purpose of the adjustment.
Bring an existing balance into WorkTimes
You can enter an existing balance while setting up a new account. To add it later, create an Overtime entry. Choose Add for a positive balance or Reduce for a negative balance.
Record paid overtime
Create an Overtime entry on the payment date, choose Reduce, and enter the paid duration.
A note such as “Paid overtime August” makes the adjustment easier to find. To track the amount paid, add a currency tag and assign the amount to the entry.
Take time off against overtime
If you work a shorter day, record the hours you actually worked. WorkTimes already accounts for the missing time, so do not create another Overtime entry.
- Daily regular hours: For a completely free day with no work or absence entry, create an Overtime entry with Reduce. WorkTimes suggests that weekday’s regular hours.
- Weekly or monthly regular hours: Leave the completely free day empty. The missing work time already reduces the weekly or monthly balance. An additional reduction would subtract the hours twice.
Reset the balance on a particular date
Find the balance on the required date. For a positive balance, create an entry with Reduce. For a negative balance, choose Add. Enter the full amount and use the cutoff date as the entry date.
