Set up shift work with schedule templates

Use work schedules as templates for recurring early, late, or night shifts. WorkTimes does not rotate schedules automatically: create a new schedule for each shift change.

A schedule applies from its Valid from date until the next schedule begins. WorkTimes selects it by the entry date, not by the weekday name.

Prepare shift templates

  1. Open Account DetailsAll Work Schedules.
  2. Open the Standard schedule, rename it—for example, Early Shift—and configure its regular hours, breaks, and fixed times.
  3. Enable Use as Template.
  4. Add another schedule using Early Shift as the template.
  5. Name it Late Shift, set its first Valid from date, adjust its settings, and enable Use as Template.
  6. Repeat for a Night Shift or other shift pattern.

Plan each shift change

  1. Under All Work Schedules, add a schedule.
  2. Choose the required shift template.
  3. Set Valid from to the first date of that shift.
  4. Review the copied settings and save the account.

A practical starting point is one week after the last schedule, but always verify the actual rota date. Templates are copies, not linked schedules; later template changes do not update schedules already created from them.
